• Charcoal is not simply a medium. It is a way of thinking. Volatile, unstable, simultaneously capable of precision and dissolution, it imposes a particular relationship with the image : one of negotiation, of erasure, of return.

The works gathered here are born from solitary journeys where geography and weather are the primary subjects of observation and inspiration, before the return to the studio. Charcoal becomes the tool through which memory is processed, landscape is questioned, and the boundary between the visible and the felt is explored. Each series approaches this investigation differently : through the monumental, the primordial, the documentary, or the poetic. What they share is a common ground, the belief that drawing, in its most physical and fragile form, can reach places that other languages cannot.
